Receiver Marcus Fitzgerald will receive a tryout from the Minnesota Vikings. He is the younger brother of Pro Bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals.

The crafty folks at ProFootballTalk.com are monitoring the flights that come in and out of Hattiesburg-Laurel airport, which is famously home to Brett Favre. A flight from Minneapolis arrived at 9:11 AM on Wednesday and a departing flight took off at 4:14 PM on the same day. Favre was released by the Jets this week, which has fueled speculation that he will come out of retirement and sign with the Vikings.

According to columnist Mike Vandermause, the only thing that will prevent Brett Favre from joining the Minnesota Vikings is his torn biceps. If the injury requires surgery, then that would likely end his career. Minnesota and Favre attempted to unite before last season and with the quarterback now a free agent, there is nothing to prevent the two from coming to terms.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic exchanged a few text messages with Drew Rosenhaus on Tuesday, and the agent doesn't believe that Edgerrin James will be a free agent long. The Cardinals released the running back on Tuesday after a few months of discontent. "So far several teams have expressed interest and we may have a deal in place in the very near future," Rosenhaus said.

Veteran wide receiver Drew Bennett will reportedly visit and workout for the Browns on Wednesday. Bennett played in just one game and had one catch for the Rams last season.

The Steelers met with free agent wide receiver Ashley Lelie on Monday, and the two sides could soon agree on a contract. "He had a great visit," agent Peter Schaffer said. "The Steelers and I are going to continue to have open dialogue. I think there's some mutual interest, and we're going to keep discussing it."

The Raiders are looking to sign an undrafted free agent at fullback to provide depth behind Oren O'Neal and Luke Lawton. Oakland is rumored to have signed Kansas linebacker Joe Mortensen, who worked out as a fullback on his Pro Day. However, the Raiders are one of just a few teams that don't announce the undrafted free agents they've signed immediately.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum admitted on Sunday that he inquired about free-agent receiver Plaxico Burress before the NFL draft began on Saturday. Tannenbaum said that "consistent with our normal approach of performing our due diligence, we contacted Drew Rosenhaus several days ago, prior to the draft, to inquire about Plaxico's pending legal situation." He went on to say that he hasn't spoken to Rosenhaus or Burress since the initial conversation.

The Jaguars and free agent receiver Torry Holt are working on a contract, but nothing is expected to become official before the weekend is over. Jacksonville is in dire need of a receiver, but a number of teams have been linked to the former Ram, including the Bears and Titans.

The Jaguars are nearing a deal with free agent wide receiver Torry Holt, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Holt was released by the Rams on March 13; he was due a $1.25 million roster bonus on the 17th.
